SC Family Court Rules & Custody Proceedings
South Carolina Family Court has exclusive jurisdiction over all custody and visitation matters under Title 63. These rules govern how custody proceedings are initiated, heard, and decided — from temporary hearings through final orders.
SC Title 20 – Domestic Relations
Title 20 of the South Carolina Code of Laws covers domestic relations, including marriage, divorce, separation, alimony, and equitable division of marital property.
SC Title 63 – Children's Code
Title 63 is South Carolina's Children's Code. It covers child custody standards, domestic violence protections, Guardian ad Litem rules, child welfare, abuse and neglect, and termination of parental rights.
